My mission

Terrain is everything. It is commonly said “If avalanches are the problem, terrain selection is the solution.” Until I started Backcountry Nav, a course specific to terrain selection and analysis did not exist. These skills had to be gained with “experience”. The only way to gain experience is by getting out there. So people have been taking more and more risks to gain this title of experienced, blindly following someone they trust or even someone they fully don’t. 

I am going to give you the tools you need in order to make solid, sound choices of your terrain selections.
